Geoheritage

Society of Geoscientists and Allied Technologists (SGAT) in association with Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) has taken a step forward in identifying geoheritage and geotourism locations and preparing a road map for converting those as tourist destinations. The “Workshop on Geoheritage and Geotourism Potential of Odisha”, which was jointly organised by SGAT and INTACH on 14th September 2014 at Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India and was inaugurated by Shri Ashok Chandra Panda, Hon’ble Minister of State, Tourism, Govt. of Odisha, marked the beginning of the journey in this direction. Besides the geoscientists and allied technologists of SGAT, delegates from various organisations like Geological Survey of India, State Directorate of Geology, Rural Water Supply & Sanitation, Central Ground Water Board, Environmental Society of Odisha, INTACH, Utkal University etc. participated in the workshop and offered valuable suggestions.

Suggestions are also welcome from interested persons for promising sites of geoheritage and geotourism in the Format for Documenting Geosites which can be downloaded from the following link.
